Given that the future of IT operations is DevOps-centric, it is essential to understand what the DevOps process is like and how organizations can best implement this new approach. This article focuses on IT organizations that are currently working with the best ITIL practices and agile thinking.
When organizations begin to become more service-centered, how do they process progress, and how does their initial organization support that progress? Learn how to use the combination of ITIL and Agile to deliver services more efficiently. It is also good that the ITIL’s guiding principles reflect best practices and principles of agile thinking, not just agile practices. Agile and DevOps support Scrum as an integral part of the IT operations process, but the methods here are the same and can be operational. At the very least, the “best practices” and concepts described in ITIL are not incompatible with them but merely different ways of thinking and approaches to the process.
For this reason, we recommend that you conduct a thorough analysis of the perspectives and properties of both methods before combining Agile and ITIL. Before combining ITIL and Agile, we should have a comprehensive knowledge and perspective on the characteristics and methods. To integrate both methods, you need to integrate them first into the IT operation process and then into your business.
Depending on your organization, you may want to develop an agile approach or DevOps implementation depending on the maturity of your teams. Remember that ITIL is a framework for leadership, it is not something that needs to be implemented, and all you do with it (ITSM) is cultural change. When we follow the agile service management approach, we keep in mind the predefined principles in designing and delivering services. When using the ITIL framework, consider the role of the business model, the scope of your business, and the service requirements.
While DevOps uses Agile’s best practices to deliver services, the traditional incremental approach is a complete idea. The combined ITIL and Agile approach provides added value for the entire IT delivery service and helps define the process. By specifying and delivering reliable services and improving collaboration between teams through best practice, ITIL can help the DevOps team provide a reliable service, even if not all teams work in DevOps.
As a result, this framework allows organizations to promote and maintain agile attitudes while supporting ITSM for ongoing service improvements. Well-maintained service management, for example, is measured by responsive change management practices and can help accelerate agile methods’ goals.
What are the chances that the agile framework might be replaced by a more agile approach to ITIL problem management and agile Scrum? Agile may feel like an anti-methodology, but the concept is simple: Agile Service Management means that the agile mindset can be applied to IT service management as practiced at the Agile Service Desk. Of course, this increases efficiency and ensures faster response times at the service desk. The combined ITIL and Agile approach can add value to the entire IT supply chain and help define lean processes. It has also been shown that Agile and ITIL best practices can bring different benefits to different organizations. Companies could benefit from implementing IT-IL that could be very similar to “agile,” but more agile with the rapid changes that Agil has introduced. This shows us that ITIL best practices can be used as a method with other frameworks such as agile to improve performance.
Using ITIL 4.0 to describe this perspective a little, and I give an example below. ITIL may seem like another trendy management method at first glance, but you will see a clear difference if you look more closely at the Agile and ITIL policies. I will first talk about the advantages of combining ITIL and Agile. We all know the benefits of agile as a management approach and its benefits for the IT organization, so it is most relevant to know this from a business perspective.
